Shankar gets a reality check Ace South Indian director Shankar says he has tried his best to turn his wild imagination into a reality in much -awaited bilingual sci-film Robot. he added that his lead actress, Aishwariya Rai , has evoled since the time they worked together in Jeans.
"The script was very difficult and I tried to make it come true with the help of the actors and technicians ,"Shanker said . Robot has none other than Ranjnikanth playing the lead role.
To be released on October 1, in two languages-Robot has been made in Hindi and as Endhiran in Tamil at a budject of Rs 175 crore(Dh140 Millon) . it is billed to be the costliest Indian film ever made.
Shanker admits that Robot was a tough film to make but added that they finished it before schedule.
"Actually it's a difficult movie and we finished it early. It should have taken a longer time . It should have taken a longer time. It's not a normal movie.There are only two or three normal scenes.
All other scenes were difficult to execute and it was a tough job for the actors too.When two humans interact, it's very simple but when one human being intracts with a robot,everything is different ,"he said.
The director , who teamed up with Aishwarya for the second time after Jeans in 1998, says the former Miss World has matured as a better actress over the past decade and is extremely hard -working. "She is now very experienced. In Jeans we had to experiment a lot ...which we didn't have to do in Robot and I am able to see her growth in acting.
Enthiran (Tamil: எந்திரன்) is a forthcoming Tamil science fiction film co-written and directed by S. Shankar. The film features Rajinikanthand Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles with A. R. Rahman working on background score and soundtrack. Produced by Kalanidhi Maran, it is known for being the most expensive Asian film ever made.[2] It is also slated to make the largest worldwide opening for an Indian film, upon release.[3]
After meticulous filming and production for over two years, the film is currently undergoing post-production work. It is releasing worldwide on 1 October 2010 along with its dubbed versions: Robot in Hindi and Robo in Telugu.[4]

Apart from the original decided casting of Rajinikanth in the lead role, S. Shankar as director, and A. R. Rahman as film composer,[23] who sets a new record for the most expensive musician of India, the rest of the cast was named over the following year. Several heroines were approached to essay the lead female role with Aishwarya Rai,[24] Priyanka Chopra,[25]Deepika Padukone,[26] Asin Thottumkal,[27] Trisha Krishnan,[28] Shriya Saran,[28] Priyamani, and Nayanthara[29] at the forefront. In late January 2008, Rai was announced as the heroine of the project and she later confirmed her appearance in the film to the news channel, Aaj Tak. She stated that she was being paid 60 million, becoming the highest paid actress inIndia with her salary for Enthiran.[30] In a subsequent interview Rai expressed how much she always wanted work with Shankar and Rajinikanth, and was eager to work on the project.[31]For the lead antagonist role Amitabh Bachchan,[26] J. D. Chakravarthy,[32] Narain[33] and Arjun Sarja were considered,[34] however Danny Denzongpa was signed for the role.[35]Comedians Santhanam and Karunas were signed up to portray important roles in December 2008.[36]
Sujatha Rangarajan originally announced as the dialogue writer of the film, died during the production stages, with Madhan Karky Vairamuthu being named as his successor.[37] Along with Shankar's usual directorial assistants, Manoj Bharathiraja, son of noted filmmaker Bharathiraja, was signed on to be an assistant director.[38] Sabu Cyril was signed up as the art director while R. Rathnavelu has taken up the post of the cinematographer, after K. V. Anand, Manikandan, Nirav Shah, Tirru, and Ravi K. Chandran had all opted out.[28][39][40] The music composed by Rahman would feature lyrics by Vairamuthu and Pa. Vijay, while Raju Sundaram will choreograph dance moves. The film will be edited by Anthony Gonsalves, withManish Malhotra and Mary E. Vogt dually in charge of costume designs. Yuen Woo Ping will be the stunt co-ordinator for Enthiran, making his foray into Indian cinema, while Stan Winston Studios will take care of the animatronics in the film.[41] Industrial Light & Magic will be working on visual and special effects.[42]
